Make it Practical #1.5: A Zine
I'm making it even simpler for you. Behold my amateur zine summarizing "Taking the power out of empowerment" by Srilatha Batliwala.
Last week I posted the first edition of my “Make it Practical” series with a summary and thoughts about the 2007 article, “Taking the power out of empowerment: an experiential account” by Srilatha Batliwala.
Sometimes my mind freezes when looking at a computer screen and I have to get out paper and markers to help me process what I’m reading. Sometimes the outcome of that (initially) frozen mind is a zine: a small hand-made graphic booklet. If you didn’t get a chance to read the whole post, check this out instead.
More specifically, I wrote, “By advocating for global hegemonic powers like the United States to adopt a ‘feminist foreign policy,’ are we setting the stage for feminist to lose its radical meaning just as empowerment did in the 1980s and 90s?”
